  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Joselu's late double sent Madrid into the Champions League final at the expense of Bayern with a 4-3 aggregate win on Wednesday night. For much of the contest, it looked like Alphonso Davies' rasping strike would be enough to secure a final clash against Borussia Dortmund but it wasn't to be. Long after the final whistle, England skipper Kane revealed he was "proud" of how his team-mates fought at Santiago Bernabeu and said they can go a long way in the future.

  • WHAT HARRY KANE SAID

He posted on Instagram: "Gutted. Last night was tough to take. Proud of how we battled over the two legs which says everything you need to know about the spirit of this team and how far we can go. #MiaSanMia."

Mia San Mia is Bayern's famous motto and translates to, "We are who we are."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Kane moved to Bayern from Tottenham last summer for £82 million ($100m) and since then he has scored 44 goals in 45 games in all competitions. However, the serial winners of Bayern have failed to pick up a trophy for the first time since 2011/12, manager Thomas Tuchel is leaving at the end of the campaign and the Bavarians are yet to find a replacement. Despite that, the 30-year forward seems to feel Bayern are heading in the right direction and had it not been for Madrid's late show, they arguably would have been.
