Cassius Mailula was part of the Wydad Athletic Club team that featured in the expanded FIFA Club World Cup ongoing in the United States.
In the three games played, Mailula started two and came from the bench once, scoring a goal in the process.
However, his team crashed out of the competition with no points after losing all three Group G matches.

Mailula joined Wydad Casablanca on loan from Toronto FC, the same as Thembinkosi Lorch, who was acquired temporarily from Mamelodi Sundowns.
Both players were signed by the former club's coach, Rhulani Mokwena, who didn't finish the season as anticipated owing to inconsistencies in domestic competitions.
In the concluded season, Mailula played 36 games across all competitions with a return of six goals and seven assists.
However, the 24-year-old has now communicated that he will not be part of the Botola Pro League side for next season.

“Dear Wydad family, it is with a heavy heart that I write this message, as I want to let you all know that I will not be continuing with the team for the upcoming season,” he communicated to the public..
“My time with Wydad has been an incredibly special and rewarding experience, and I will forever be grateful for it.
“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you. From the security staff to the technical team, to my teammates, your kindness and support have meant the world to me," Mailula continued.
"You all hold a very special place in my heart. I must also thank the president for giving me the incredible opportunity to represent Wydad, and coach Rulani [Mokwena] for his unwavering belief in me.
"Without his trust, I wouldn’t be the player I am today. I wish the club, the fans, and everyone involved nothing but continued success in the upcoming season and beyond. Dima Wydad," Mailula concluded.

Mailula struggled for game time at Toronto FC, where he was even relegated to the second team before getting a lifeline in Morocco.
The Bafana Bafana international has not confirmed where he will be next season, whether he will go back to his former team in the Major League Soccer or get another team.
