Fadlu Davids' agent ignites hopes of a return to Orlando Pirates after Jose Riveiro departure - 'The door will never be closed'

Former Maritzburg United player Fadlu Davids is establishing himself as a respected coach with his work at Tanzanian giants Simba SC.

That has seen his name being mentioned as a possible replacement for Jose Riveiro, who has left Orlando Pirates.

With the likes of Pitso Mosimane and Benni McCarthy also being mentioned, Davids' agent Rasthoem Simons has not ruled out a return to the Premier Soccer League.

“We don't know what the future holds," said Simons as per Soccer Laduma.

We had two South African clubs in the semi-final of the Champions League and one in the semi-final of the Confed Cup. It shows the PSL is one of the biggest leagues in Africa.

"All top coaches on the continent see an opportunity to coach in South Africa as an honour. The door will never be closed.”

Recently, Simons was coy on Davids returning to Pirates where he worked with Mandla Ncikazi, but the agent is now giving hope that the coach could be back at the Soweto giants.

This comes as Davids himself has recommended Rhulani Mokwena to take over from Riveiro.

That leaves Pirates fans curious to learn about who will be their next coach next season.

For now, Davids is focused on claiming a treble at Simba by winning the Tanzanian league title, Caf Confederation Cup and the Tanzania Federation Cup.

At the same time, Pirates are searching for a new coach to help them dominate the domestic and continental spaces.
