  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Williams had a female passenger in his Audi A3, and at one point, he was spotted with a balloon in his mouth while the woman recorded him on her mobile phone.

According to the CPS, multiple witnesses noticed that the vehicle appeared out of control, and moments later, it collided with a Ford Fiesta before crashing into the central reservation. The crash caused severe damage to Williams’ car, left the Ford Fiesta’s offside damaged, and even resulted in one of its wheels detaching. The barrier in the central reservation also sustained significant damage due to the crash.

    WHAT THE POLICE SAID

Senior CPS prosecutor Andrew Madden emphasised that Williams’ reckless driving on the day of the incident was completely unacceptable.

"Witnesses said Williams kept speeding up and then breaking sharply. It was clear he wasn't in control of the vehicle," said Mr Madden.

Madden also noted that an expert assessment revealed Williams had been traveling at 99 mph just four seconds before crashing.

He added: "The driving was erratic and the speed was grossly excessive. Eventually, Williams lost control completely and crashed."

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Following the accident, Williams underwent a breathalyser test, but results showed no traces of alcohol. He was then taken to a hospital for medical treatment before being transferred to the Middlewich custody suite.
