VIDEO: Ex-Chelsea hero Thiago Silva goes to extreme lengths after narrowly avoiding relegation with Fluminense as he walks length of pitch on his knees
The veteran defender went the extra mile after Fluminense avoided relegation from Brazil's top division by beating title contenders Palmeiras 1-0 in their final game of the season. Silva was spotted walking the length of the pitch on his knees and upon reaching the touchline, he bent down and prayed for the result before waving at the Fluminense fans.

The 40-year-old former Brazil international left Premier League giants Chelsea at the end of the 2023-24 season to head back to his homeland and sign for Fluminense. Since joining the Tricolor, Silva made 20 appearances across all competitions including 15 in the Brazilian league. The defender was plagued with multiple injuries during the season and spent almost a month on the sidelines.

The veteran will aim to remain fit and take part in the inaugural edition of the Club World Cup next summer where Fluminense have been placed in Group F alongside Mamelodi Sundowns, Borussia Dortmund and Ulsan HD.
