    WHAT HAPPENED?

Fadlu Davids, head coach of Tanzanian giants Simba SC, has weighed in on Orlando Pirates starlet Relebohile Mofokeng’s readiness for European football.

Davids, who has guided Simba to the Caf Confederation Cup final, believes the 20-year-old possesses undeniable talent but lacks the physical strength required to thrive abroad.

He has been one of the standout youngsters in the PSL and has grown into a vital part of the Buccaneers’ squad.

Introduced to professional football by coach Jose Riveiro, he has impressed with his skill, composure, and flair.

His performances have even earned him a call-up to Bafana Bafana, cementing his status as one of South Africa’s brightest prospects.

While his future seems destined for Europe, Davids’ comments serve as a reminder that the jump in quality and intensity can be overwhelming.

Strengthening physically may be the key to unlocking his full potential overseas.

    WHAT DAVIDS SAID

"The youngster Rele Mofokeng of Pirates is something definitely special, he's the one player who has a huge future ahead of him if he is guided correctly," Davids said on Mike Morton Talks Football YouTube Channel, as reported by Soccer Laduma.

"Physically, he still has to develop, get himself ready for European leagues. You saw in the Kaizer Chiefs game he was calling for a penalty; they just pushed him off the ball.

"These are small things, but with his technical skills and football brain, he has all the attributes to make it and be the next big thing to lead Bafana and give us the hope for our goal-scoring exploits. He's definitely one player that stands out," Davids enthused.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

With Jose Riveiro expected to join Egyptian giants Al Ahly, speculation swirls about whether Mofokeng could follow.

The Spanish coach has admitted that while he has influence on signings, it’s ultimately a collective decision.

If Al Ahly are interested, it may put pressure on Pirates to decide whether to sell or hold on to their rising star.

For now, Mofokeng remains a critical piece in the club’s plans, and his development will be closely monitored.

    WHAT NEXT FOR DAVIDS?

Davids now shifts his focus to leading Simba in the Confederation Cup final.

They face the Moroccan side RS Berkane away from home in a massive first-leg showdown.

A positive result could set the stage for one of Davids’ biggest achievements as a head coach.
