  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Nunez has struggled for form in the 2024-25 campaign, having scored just four goals across all competitions in 26 matches. He has also started in just seven out of the 15 league matches he has appeared in and has been linked with a move away from Anfield amid serious interest from the Saudi Pro League.

  • WHAT ARNE SLOT SAID

Addressing the star forward's confidence concerns and poor form, manager Arne Slot said: "It's your perception, not mine that he is struggling for confidence. He was involved in goals against Accrington and Fulham and he scored v Southampton. So for me, it's the life of a striker, sometimes you score, sometimes you don't and he hasn't started every week.

"We score every game except for Spurs in the Cup, so that tells me we have goals in our team. Darwin will score as he has done already. I don't see him struggling that much as you see it."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Earlier this week, Anfield Watch reported that reigning Saudi champions Al-Hilal have reportedly come up with an initial verbal bid worth £70 million ($85m) for the Uruguay international. However, the Red rejected the offer as they have slapped a £85m ($103m) price tag on the player and are determined to get at least £75m ($91m) from the deal.
