Perfect for Ange-ball! Dominic Solanke reveals Postecoglou's influence on record £65m move to Tottenham

Solanke joined Spurs in a club-record £65 million ($83m) transfer in August and has scored three goals in his first eight appearances in all competitions. The striker's early form for the north Londoners saw him recalled to the England team for the first time since 2017 ahead of the Nations League games against Greece and Finland.

Spurs boss Postecoglou recently admitted they considered signing Ivan Toney from Brentford instead of Solanke in the summer window, saying: "We did look at him [Toney] but Dom was the one we wanted that fitted the profile we were looking for at the time."

Solanke fully agrees with the Australian's assessment as he sees himself as an ideal fit for the club's playing style.

"[Postecoglou] is a great manager, one of the reasons why I was so keen to join Tottenham," Solanke told reporters on Tuesday. "The way he plays definitely suits my style, so it’s like for like. The way he plays is very aggressive, on the front foot, pressing very high which I enjoy doing. So like he’s said, it’s a great fit."

The 27-year-old will hope to earn his second senior England cap when they face Greece and then Finland in the Nations League this week. After the international break, Spurs take on London rivals West Ham in the Premier League on October 19.
