  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Lehmann was initially left out of Switzerland’s squad for the Nations League matches against France and Norway. However, fate offered her a second chance as an unexpected injury to Alena Bienz of FC Koln, who suffered an ankle issue, led Swiss head coach Pia Sundhage to hand Lehmann a late call-up.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Lehmann’s lack of minutes during the closing stages of the season at Juventus was likely a significant factor influencing Sundhage in her decision to drop the ex-Aston Villa forward from the Nations League squad. However, the manager has named her in the provisional roster for Euro 2025, with a final announcement over the squad, and who is in and out, due to be made in the coming days. Indeed, Lehmann now faces an anxious wait to learn whether she will be among the final players chosen to represent her nation.
