'More realistic than Alexander Isak!' - Arsenal decide on centre-forward priority ahead of a huge summer for Mikel Arteta after Champions League exit

The Telegraph report that Sporting forward Viktor Gyokeres is the man the Gunners want to lead the line next season. New sporting director Andrea Berta is a big fan of the Swede, who would prioritise Arsenal over Manchester United if both clubs make an offer.

Gyokeres has proved a sensation at Sporting since signing from Coventry in 2023, scoring 52 goals in 48 appearances so far this season. While Isak is said to be the Gunners' dream target, there is an acceptance that it is unrealistic to expect Newcastle to sell him.

The report states that Berta attempted to sign Gyokeres for Atletico Madrid last summer and has kept close tabs on the player. Sporting are set to sell the forward for less than his release clause and already have a list of targets ready to replace him.

Arsenal take on Liverpool, Newcastle and Southampton between now and the end of the season, when they can get moving in their bid to challenge for the title next season.
