adidas and Prada's first-ever joint football boot collection: Our tried & tested review

Back in May, we saw adidas collaborate with Prada to introduce a limited edition football boot collection, binding together both brands' DNAs. The boots are sure to bring class and a sophisticated edge to any on-pitch look, but are they worth the money?

The collection saw the Predator Accuracy, Copa Pure and X Crazyfast get a limited-edition makeover through design details that are synonymous with Prada's Linea Rossa.

Cohesive design decisions bring together the three silos, as all of the boots have a lining and upper crafted with the finest leather. They also feature the bold red iconography of Linea Rossa, and a clean mono-colour base of black, white and silver.

The boots initially launched through the adidas confirmed app, then later released through Prada. The initial release saw a quick sell-out, however, some sizes of the boot are still sitting across the Prada website - it comes as no surprise with a price tag of £500. Though they are a strong contender for the best luxury football boot of 2023.

So, we put the adidas and Prada football boots to the test. From comfort to value for money, we take a deep dive into everything that makes this football boot stand out against the competition.

How we tested the boots:

We enlisted a helping hand from London-based boot reviewer @ljcollects to take the adidas x Prada football boots out on the pitch. We tasked @ljcollects with a list of questions, seeking everything from the boot's wearability to areas where they lack. Dribbling to shooting and everything in between, there’s nothing we didn’t try with these boots, giving you our most accurate review possible.

  • Tried & tested: adidas Football x Prada

Recommended for: Predator traditionalists missing the days of black, red, and white leather Predator boots.

    Rating
    Comfort4/5
    Speed2/5
    Control4/5
    Style4/5
    Value1/5

    Most notable features

    • Extra rubber elements through the forefoot compared to ‘regular’ Predator Accuracy.
    • Nubuck leather upper is of the highest quality and very noticeable when compared to the ‘regular’ Predator Accuracy.

How do the adidas x Prada Predator Accuracy compare to their competition

The difference in material between this and the more widely available adidas Predator Accuracy that does not form part of the collaboration is stark. While this alone clearly does not justify a more-than-double price point, it is hard not to be impressed by it.

    Our final thoughts

The first designer football boot collaboration for adidas may someday mark a very important point in football boot history.

    Most notable features

    • The addition of a lace cover is eye-catching in a market where this has become rare.
    • Premium leather upper gives these the luxury that you would expect from a collaboration like this.

How do the adidas x Prada Copa Pure.1 compare to their competition

The Copa Pure is a sleeker and more streamlined option when compared to other leather ‘control’ boots.

    Our final thoughts

It will be interesting to see whether there will be further football boots collaborations of this type and whether other brands will follow suit. These sold out very quickly, so it is difficult to call it anything but a successful venture for both adidas and Prada, but it remains to be seen whether they will have any lasting effect on the market.

    Pros

    Plush

    Padded

    Comfortable

    Cons

    Very expensive

  • The X Crazyfast sees the original silhouette reinvented with premium leather, whilst staying true to the lightweight structure and translucent visual that the X franchise is renowned for. With this, leather – interspersed with adidas’ Fusion Skin prominently flows throughout the design, including the heel lining, for an elevated material finish without compromising the core visual values of the X.
