For the second time in less than month the two giants of Merseyside football face off, this time in the third round of the FA Cup.

Everton picked up a 1-1 draw when they travelled to Anfeld back in December as the Toffees frustrated Liverpool for long periods before Wayne Rooney's equaliser from the penalty spot.

Since then, though, the Reds have won four of their six matches, though injuries to key players could be vital to whether they can progress to the next stage.

Just when Liverpool's season looked to be picking up momentum it again threatens to come crashing down yet again in January.

Though they snuck past Burnley thanks to a 94th minute goal from Ragnar Klavan, the Reds were disappointing without Mohamed Salah and Philippe Coutinho, and Jurgen Klopp will be hopeful he can count on both of them against Everton.

Coutinho, in particular, will be under sharp focus should he start given the speculation that his dream move to Barcelona may actually come to fruition in the January transfer window.

Across Stanley Park at Everton, the optimism with which Sam Allardyce's first matches in charge were met has quickly evaporated, with the Toffees failing to register a win over the festive period.

The Toffees failed to register a shot on target against Chelsea and Manchester United in their two home games around Christmas while a draw at West Brom and defeat at Bournemouth suggested Allardyce still has plenty of work to do over the January window.
