Javier Hernandez forging his own World Cup path

With both his father and grandfather playing football for Mexico's national team, Javier Hernandez had some big expectations to live up to it and it's safe to say he's more than exceeded them.

Playing in his third World Cup for Mexico, the striker affectionately known as Chicharito, has forged his own history as a Hernandez.

"He's a footballer, because it's in his blood," Hernandez's grandfather says and the proof is in the pudding.

A poacher by trade, Hernandez has shown his killer instinct in front of goal at the highest level for clubs like Manchester United and more importantly for his nation.

While undoubtedly benefiting from his footballing genetics, the current West Ham player was determined to step out of the shadows of generations past.

"I wanted to make my own way, whatever that may be," Hernandez said.

A restless child and now tireless adult, it's safe to say he's done more than that as he embarks on a third World Cup with Mexico as his country's all-time leading goal scorer.
