Pitso Mosimane recalls 'two big mistakes' in Sundowns' 2018 Caf Champions League

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane admits that the defeat to Togo-Port and draw to Horoya earlier in their Caf Champions League campaign has hurt their chances of progression.

Following yet another slender defeat to Wydad Casablanca on Friday’s the Tshwane giants’ hopes of a second star rests in the balance as they dropped down the Group C rankings.

This now leaves Mosimane with the task of ensuring that his side walks away from their final clash against the Guinean champions Horoya with victory and nothing less.

This won’t be easy considering Sundowns’ luck the last time they met Horoya in Conakry.

“We know where we are now because we made two big mistakes. One mistake was the game in Guinea against Horoya. We conceded a goal in the last minutes. We were 2-1 up with four minutes to go,” Mosimane was quoted as saying by Phakaaathi.

But despite the result in Casablanca and the 2-2 draw in Conakry, one defeat that the 54-year-old has not been able to swallow was that against Togo-Port in the away leg.

Sundowns were edged out by a solitary goal in a game where Sundowns fluffed several opportunities and according Mosimane should have walked away with three points.

“The game in Togo, I don’t want to talk about it. That game was sickening. If you saw the match, we should have scored five goals at least but we lost the match and when we played them at home we dominated and won the match,” Mosimane added.

However, while Masandawana still remain in contention they have certainly not enjoyed the best of campaigns with only one victory to their name.

This is perhaps down to the fact that club lost both Khama Billiat and Percy Tau during the offseason.

“We lost two important players in Khama and Percy and that creates a little bit of a difference,” Mosimane concluded.
