Kaizer Chiefs winger George Lebese says he hopes to play when they welcome Mamelodi Sundowns to the FNB Stadium on Saturday night.
The 28-year-old admitted that it has been frustrating to watch his teammates from the bench in recent matches.
“It’s very disappointing for me. It frustrates me, but there isn’t much I can do. I just have to work hard and hopefully get a chance from team management to play again,” Lebese told the media on Wednesday.
He has watched Zimbabwe international Edmore Chirambadare play in his role at left-wing and has not questioned coach Steve Komphela about his lack of game time.
“Like I said, my job is to work hard on the field and if the coach sees that then hopefully I play if maybe he chooses a different formation or different player, I just have to work hard. I can’t question the coach’s decision,” Lebese said.

Furthermore, Lebese said Komphela has been encouraging him to keep his head up and continue working on reclaiming his spot in the starting eleven.
“What comes from him is just motivation. He sees me working hard. I just have to keep working hard to make the team,” Lebese explained.
“So, we do speak. I just have to work hard. I put everything on me,” Lebese added.
The last time he played a full 90 minutes was when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Cape Town City at home in November last year.
“I would like to play, but I just have to wait for my opportunity,” Lebese said in reference to Saturday’s clash.
“Look, obviously I came back from injury. The team was playing well while I was away. They were getting results, you know. You can’t just change the team because they were doing well. So, I got back. I needed time to get into the team which obviously there isn’t much time because you needed results. So, the coach chose different players, chose a different dimension, and I can say that all I have to do is adapt to that and try and work my way back into the team,” Lebese concluded.
