Kaizer Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas confesses admiration for Lorenzo Gordinho

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Giovanni Solinas has admitted that he wants Lorenzo Gordinho to return to the club before the transfer window closes later this month.

According to the Italian mentor, who confessed that he likes the centre-back as a player, having Gordinho back can help solve Amakhosi's defensive problems.

Chiefs confirmed last week that they had written to Bloemfontein Celtic requesting for the early release of Gordinho whose loan deal expires in December 2018.

"I don't want to speak too much about the issue of Lorenzo Gordinho because at the moment he's not a Kaizer Chiefs player," Solinas told the media.

"I can say only one thing; I like Lorenzo Gordinho. For me, he's a very good player but at the moment he's a Celtic player. So, I don't want to speak too much about Gordinho because I respect Celtic, the club and also Steve Komphela's job," he added.

With the two clubs in locked talks over Gordinho's transfer, Solinas is crossing fingers for the discussions to favour Chiefs.

"For me he's a very good player. The two clubs are talking and I don't know... I'm hoping for a positive decision for us because, in my own opinion, he can help our team and our job," concluded Solinas.

Celtic have already made it clear that they are not willing to release Gordinho before the expiry of his loan deal with them, and whether or not they will eventually give up remains to be seen.

Solinas feels Gordinho can help solve his team's defensive woes which have been evident since the start of the current campaign.

The Glamour Boys have already conceded five goals in four league matches this season, recording a single clean sheet in the process.
