Mamelodi Sundowns’ 23-man squad for 2016 Fifa Club World Cup revealed

Mamelodi Sundowns have registered 23 players for the 2016 Fifa Club World Cup which will be held in Japan between the 3rd and 18th of December.

Pitso Mosimane has opted for the tried and tested for the tournament, with the majority of them having played for him in the Caf Champions League.

Anele Ngcongca and Yannick Zakri are among the notable absentees in the squad despite being highly rated by the former Bafana Bafana mentor.

The two players haven’t featured regularly since joining Sundowns at the start of the season.

Ngcongca picked up an injury soon after arriving from Belgium, while Zakri hasn't settle down at Chloorkop.

Rheece Evans, who continues to battle for game time under Mosimane, has also been left out of the squad.

Masandawana fans would be pleased with the inclusion of attacking trio of Leonardo Castro, Khama Billiat and Keagan Dolly, who were recently struggling with minor injuries and fatigue.

Sibusiso Vilakazi has also made the cut alongside the likes of Thapelo Morena and Lucky Mohomi.   

Sundowns' first match will be on December 11 against either Auckland City (New Zealand) or the J-League champions (Japan)

Goalkeepers: Denis Onyango, Kennedy Mweene, Wayne Sandilands. 

Defenders: Thabo Nthethe, Tebogo Langerman, Asavela Mbekile, Wayne Arendse, Thapelo Morena, Mzikayise Mashaba, Siyanda Zwane, Bangaly  Soumahoro, Ricardo Nascimento.

Midfielders: Keagan Dolly, Hlompho Kekana, Teko Modise, Tiyani Mabunda, Anthony Laffor, Lucky Mohomi, Themba Zwane. 

Strikers: Sibusiso Vilakazi, Percy Tau, Khama Billiat, Leonardo Castro.
