More trouble for Man Utd! Why Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial missed training ahead of crucial Champions League showdown with Bayern Munich

Rashford had seen the bench for the start of the Red Devils' 3-0 loss at home to Bournemouth, while Martial started the game and played 56 minutes before making way for Rasmus Hojlund. Both forwards were absent from the training session on Monday at the Carrington centre with United needing to defeat the German giants to advance to the Champions League last-16 in midweek. As per Chris Wheeler of the Daily Mail, both of them had taken ill ahead of the training session and therefore pulled out of the session.

Ten Hag has seen his job security questioned this season as the Red Devils have been a disappointment, especially in the Champions League as they have only managed one win in five. While in the Premier League, they have lost seven games out of 16. However, a positive result against the Bavarians may help him resolve the situation.

United's 3-0 loss to Bournemouth was the first time that they had lost a game at Old Trafford by three or more goals to a side that started the game in the bottom half of the table as per Opta.

Ten Hag will be hoping that the duo of forwards will return to training on Tuesday as he will definitely want to have as many options as possible when they take on Bayern Munich on Wednesday, December 13.
