    WHAT HAPPENED?

Puso Dithejane and Omega Mdaka were seen as rebels by Kaizer Chiefs in mid 2023/24 season, which prompted their exit from the Soweto giants.

While the former took no time to settle at TS Galaxy, Mdaka had to battle with the established Fawaaz Basadien for a starting berth at left-back. The Bafana Bafana international has since left Stellenbosch for Mamelodi Sundowns, giving the full-back a chance to prove his worth.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Both Mdaka and Dithejane have started the 2025/26 Premier League season for their respective clubs well.

Mdaka has played every minute for Stellies in the eight matches across all competitions, repeatedly putting up Man-of-the-Match performances.

Dithejane beat Chiefs' Brendan Petersen to August's Player of the Month Award after a good run that saw him score three goals and provide two assists.

The 21-year-old has since opened up about his exit from Amakhosi before conceding he will not mind going back in the future.

    WHAT DITHEJANE SAID

“Ja, it’s all the truth; I left because I refused to be a ball boy. We had a meeting before leaving," he said as quoted by iDiski Times.

"We didn’t have a disciplinary hearing. We just had a meeting. Then they told us we must leave. Then we left.

“I’m for me now. I can’t say that [I regret leaving], because I’m improved now and I’ve added something to my career. So I won’t say that.

"Um, I felt sad, obviously, and I was hoping I could play for Kaizer Chiefs,” Dithejane continued.

“Maybe, maybe not, maybe I’m going to play there [in the future], but then I’m here at TS Galaxy now, focusing here.

"But I was hoping to play there and I was working hard for that spot in the first team," he concluded.

    WHAT NEXT?

Things are already looking up for Dithejane, who is currently one of the talented crop of youngsters coming up in Mzansi.

If he continues with his current exploits, it will not be a surprise to see him get into the Bafana Bafana team to play the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
