Percy Tau backed by fan vote for taking big money move from Al Ahly to struggling Qatar SC - 'Even if I was Kaizer's son I would still go'

Percy Tau found himself out of favour with Al Ahly coach Marcel Koller after four trophy-laden years in Cairo and rumours of a January transfer were circulating for months before the window actually opened.

Within the first week of the new year the player removed all the references to the Red Devils from his social media, a sure-fire sign that a move was imminent.

The 30-year-old had been linked to several clubs, including Al Ahly's Egyptian rivals Zamalek, Rhulani Mokwena's Wydad, and Kaizer Chiefs back home in the PSL. But none of those moves came to pass as the winger headed to Qatar for a medical last weekend.

Now with the move to Qatar SC announced and confirmed we put Tau's move to the vote in our Whatsapp channel.

It has been reported that the winger's deal is only six months long with a clause for a two year extension if he performs well and Qatar SC avoid relegation.

With a massive financial incentive on top of the extension, Tau will be hoping to hit the ground running and prove his worth in The Kings battle against relegation.

The 30-year-old's first chance to impress will be on Friday as his new team contest the Qatar-UAE Super Cup final against Al Nasr. Then it will be down to business in the league where Qatar lie 11th in the 12 team competition with just 10 points from 12 games and the worst goal difference in the division (-18) after scoring 14 goals while conceding 32.

The Lion of Judah has his work cut out for him to help his new team and earn that contract extension.
