    WHAT HAPPENED?

For the last three seasons, Orlando Pirates have been delivering consistently under the tutelage of Jose Riveiro.

However, the Spaniard decided against renewing his contract with the Sea Robbers after it expired at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

To date, the Buccaneers haven't found a replacement.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

One of the coaches who has been associated with the vacant role at the club is a celebrated former Mamelodi Sundowns tactician, Pitso Mosimane.

The 60-year-old has been a free agent since his exit from Esteghlal early in the year, owing to the club's struggles and inconsistencies.

However, that doesn't take away anything, especially regarding the quality and Jingles' achievements.

It explains why Bucs legend Thabo Mngomeni is happy with reports that Mosimane might take over as Bucs' new coach.

    WHAT MNGOMENI SAID

“I was happy when they were saying Pitso was coming,” the Amajimbos assistant coach told iDiski Times.

“I was really happy. I think he could do something or carry on what Riveiro started. Definitely, Pitso has got the capability of doing that, sure, definitely.”

“And what about Mandla [Ncikazi]? He has been there with Riveiro. Mandla has identified how Riveiro was doing his things,” Mngomeni continued.

“I’m not saying if they put him in, he should do it that way, but he can see where they have improved. He can see where they need to improve. He should also be there, part of the team," he concluded.

    WHAT NEXT?

Bucs are hoping to challenge for the Premier Soccer League and the Caf Champions League, coupled with domestic assignments.

It explains why they need to have a coach who won't change a lot, since that might take time to be implemented, which will negatively affect the team.
