    WHAT HAPPENED?

Mfundo Vilakazi limped off Kaizer Chiefs' Premier Soccer League 2-2 draw with Magesi FC on Wednesday.

The teenage sensation was replaced by Wandile Duba in the 66th minute, raising concerns about his fitness ahead of Saturday's Carling Knockout quarter-final showdown with Mamelodi Sundowns at FNB Stadium.

Amakhosi coach Nasreddine Nabi has given an update on the fitness of Vilakazi as well as George Matlou and Mduduzi Mdantsane.

    WHAT NABI SAID

“Mfundo, we don’t believe that it’s an injury. It was just cramps from fatigue. He ran a lot and we believe he will be fine. It’s true that those players have been injured for quite some time," Nabi told reporters.

"All of them are done with the injury, and now recovering, integrating with the group, and training but we need to be careful how we integrate them.

“Matlou has been out for like a year, we need to give them time to train, get fitness up and get time to play friendly games, bring back their preparedness, and get connected with teammates again before incorporating them in official matches again.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

While Nabi had delivered some encouraging news about his players, midfielder Edson Castillo remains ruled out for the rest of the year while Tebogo Potsane and Edmilson Dove have also been a fitness concern.

However, central defender Inacio Miguel returns from suspension for the Sundowns match after missing out on the trip to Magesi.

The game against the Brazilians is one Anakhosi would be keen on banishing the unwanted record of conceding in all their five PSL matches.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CHIEFS?

The Soweto giants have failed to win their last three league games and will not want to go with that form into this Carking Knockout affair.

Nabi will be preparing his men to reproduce the performance of the Round of 16 when they hammered SuperSport United 4-0.
