Etiosa Ighodaro is still contracted to Mamelodi Sundowns, but Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi confirmed the club is ready to act should the “administrative issues” be resolved. 

According to Soccer Laduma’s Siya Crew, the player remains hopeful, especially with an opportunity to play for the Glamour Boys.

“For the boy, the most important thing is to play football, and an opportunity at a club like Chiefs keeps him hopeful,” a source explained to Soccer Laduma’s Siya Crew. 

“It would be a fantastic move for him at a club of that stature. Plus, the coach, Nabi, is a big admirer, so who wouldn’t be interested in an opportunity like that? We’ll have to wait and see what happens between now and the end of the transfer window,” the informant concluded. 

On Tuesday, 12 August, Amakhosi completed the long-awaited signing of former Cape Town Spurs captain Asanele Velebayi. 

Despite this, a high-profile striker remains on their radar, as ex-Persebaya Surabaya forward Flavio Silva is yet to make his mark.

While Ighodaro’s future and potential move to Naturena remain uncertain, the Glamour Boys are focused on their Premier Soccer League campaign. 

They opened with a 2-0 win over Stellenbosch and are back in action midweek against Polokwane City on Wednesday, 13 August.
