    WHAT HAPPENED?

Mamelodi Sundowns have signed just one player, Fawaaz Basadien, during the current transfer window while confirming a number of departures.

Some players are reportedly pushing for moves away from the club and are yet to feature in their competitive matches.

Although yet to lose a game this season, the Brazilians have not been very convincing in the two Premier Soccer League matches they have so far been involved in.

Cardoso talks about how the transfer rumours have created some instability in his squad.

    WHAT CARDOSO SAID

“Look, the transfer market is always tough and after a Club World Cup where the team performed the way they performed, there’s always going to be instability of proposals that arrive that can touch the players, it’s like that, it’s obviously like that,” said Cardoso as per iDiski Times

“But the club is very professional and has a very clear idea of how to relate to things and the maturity we find inside the club will allow the players in the dressing room to understand that things are being handled in the right way.

“It will take time, yes, because it’s not Monday to the other we solve some of these issues, we need time, but they will be solved in proper time," added the Portuguese.

"Until then, it’s important we win as much as possible. So that meanwhile with the players who will come back or be signed, take the team further in terms of development of course.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Headlining departure rumours at Sundowns are Luas Ribeiro Costa and Khuliso Mudau who are yet to take part in official matches this term.

Cardoso himself has strongly suggested that Ribeiro is leaving the club and that they are already looking for replacements.

Thapelo Maseko has also expressed frustration at the club reportedly blocking his move overseas and wants out of the club.

Rising star Kutlwano Letlhaku is also said to have attracted interest in Portugal and Denmark.

    WHAT NEXT FOR SUNDOWNS?

The next few weeks could see the Brazilians parting ways with some players.

Also, with the PSL transfer window closing on September 22, new acquisitions to add to Basadien on new arrivals are expected at Chloorkop.

Ahead of that, The Brazilians will need to keep focus on two competitions, the MTN8 where they will play Orlando Pirates in a two-legged semi final and the league where matches against Magesi, Kaizer Chiefs and Stellenbosch loom before the upcoming international break.
