  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Erik ten Hag has had to cope without key players such as Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Casemiro, Mason Mount and Christian Eriksen for long spells this season due to injury. Changes are now set to be made to the medical staff by head of sports medicine Gary O'Driscoll, according to Mail Online. O'Driscoll moved to United from Arsenal in the summer and has a number of recommendations he will make to Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS team once their 25 percent stake in the club has been confirmed.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

O'Driscoll wants to modernise United's approach and "implement newer methods and a forward-thinking approach". The overhaul will see the club add younger practitioners to the staff and "make a concerted effort" to have more diversity on the medical team. There are fears at United that their current approach is outdated and their rivals are "significantly more advanced in terms of sports medicine".
