    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has been rumoured to be on his way out of Naturena as the Soweto giants have been struggling for a top-eight spot in the Premier Soccer League.

Even after helping Chiefs to the Nedbank Cup, the rumours have continued, leading the coach to respond, "I'm surprised."

Amakhosi defender Dillan Solomons has also responded to talk about his coach leaving the club.

    WHAT SOLOMONS SAID

“Obviously, people have been talking. But there is nothing we can do about people who are talking,” said Solomons as per FARPost.

“We just have to do what we can do, and that is coming to training, putting in the work, and showing the coach that we are here to work. And that’s all we can do.

"As a team, we can only control what we can control. If people are going to talk outside, that’s their opinion, and we will see," added the former Moroka Swallows defender.

“We don’t know what is going on. All we can do is come here [Naturena] and put in the work.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

What could save Nabi from being fired by Chiefs is having guided the club to a Nedbank Cup triumph which ended a decade-long trophyless run.

It was an achievement which redirected Amakhosi fans from concerns of possibly failing to finish the season in the top eight.

By claiming the Nedbank Cup, the Soweto giants earned themselves a ticket to play Caf Confederation Cup football next season.

    WHAT NEXT?

After enjoying some game time during the second half of the season, largely due to Reeve Frosler's injury, Solomons might be hoping for Nabi to stay and continue playing regularly.

The Tunisian showed some faith in Solomons even when Zitha Kwinika, Njabulo Blom and Happy Mashiane were available to take up the right-back position.

Chiefs now prepare for their last match of the season against Polokwane City at home on Saturday in what will be their final bid to secure a top-eight spot.
