    WHAT HAPPENED?

Bruce Bvuma has been Kaizer Chiefs' first-choice goalkeeper after Fiacre Ntwari failed to settle following his move from TS Galaxy.

Brandon Petersen got his chance, however, he made some mistakes that saw him get dropped.

Nevertheless, in the Nedbank Cup final, coach Nasreddine Nabi opted against starting Bvuma, who has not been consistent prior to the big game.

His competitor went on to pull fantastic saves that helped Amakhosi claim the elusive trophy.

    WHAT BVUMA SAID

“Of course, every player wants to play the finals and, in my situation, whereby I played every game in the competition, but at the end of the day decision was supposed to be made and turns out that it was a good decision,” he told Radio2000.

“With me, the team comes first, whether I’m playing or not playing, if the team does well, then I am happy, so that was it.

“Of course, I was disappointed when I was told at the same time, I understood the reasoning, and also as I have mentioned, the team comes first," Bvuma concluded.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Chiefs have struggled to keep clean sheets, especially in the Premier Soccer League.

Since early December, Bvuma has been given every chance to show he is ready to succeed Itumeleng Khune.

Reports have it that Ntwari might be on his way out, and from Petersen's exploits, Bvuma will struggle to reclaim his place.

Nabi might also go into the transfer market for a better custodian to help him realise his objectives.

    WHAT NEXT?

The season will be done in the next couple of weeks, and Bvuma has a huge task to win Nabi's heart again.

The most important thing, however, is to ensure the Glamour Boys seal their place in the Premier Soccer League's top eight positions.
