    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef has spoken about the goal-shy Ranga Chivaviro's struggles under Amakhosi's new technical staff led by Nasreddine Nabi.

The 32-year-old forward failed to convert a clear opportunity to score in the Glamour Boys' disappointing 1-0 defeat in the Premier Soccer League against Golden Arrows.

Nonetheless, Youssef, who spoke to the media in Nabi's absence after he received a red card just before the game ended, detailed how the Chiefs technical team is dealing with Chivaviro's challenges.

    WHAT WAS SAID

"Ranga Chivaviro is a striker, and a striker’s life is you have to score. He started the league very well, he scored four goals. After that, there was a little drop," Youssef told Journalists.

"Now, we are working and always trying to make individual sessions for him. For sure, he had a big opportunity to score during the match but he was unlucky.

"He chose to take the shot with his left foot, maybe if he took it with his right foot, it would have been easier," he added.

"It's a decision that he made, as a striker he has to make a decision. We are working inside and we are trying to fix it."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

So far, Chivaviro has netted four goals in 14 matches in all competitions. Nonetheless, The striker has been heavily criticized by the Soweto giants' fans for falling short of their expectations

Unfortunately, some Amakhosi fans have urged the club's management to release him, claiming he is not contributing anything to the club, despite his significant efforts.

The Soweto giants have been linked with Pyramids striker Fiston Mayele during this transfer window. If the Congolese attacker eventually joins Chiefs, Chivaviro will face stiff competition.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CHIVAVIRO?

As the season approaches its midpoint, it will be crucial for Chivaviro to begin scoring before Nabi opts to restrict his playing time, given that Amakhosi is anticipated to acquire a new striker.

The forward's next opportunity to enhance his frustrating and unsatisfactory recent performances will occur in Chiefs' match against Sekhukhune United on Sunday.
