  • WHAT HAPPENED?

As a 17-year-old, Saka made his European debut as a second-half substitute in a Europa League match against Ukrainian outfit Vorskla Poltava. Five years on, he's Arsenal's star man, but broadcaster Reshmin Chowdhury couldn't help bringing him back down to earth with a reference to an "embarrassing" comment he made after his debut.

    WHAT SAKA SAID

When Chowdhury brought up their earlier interview, recalling he'd said "I was so excited, my mum had to put me to bed", the Arsenal star was quick to get on the defensive.

"I knew you were gonna bring that up!" Saka replied. "I don't know why I said that! Because that didn't happen — she told me to go to bed, but she didn't put me to bed."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Saka played a key role in Arsenal's record-breaking demolition of Ligue 1 side Lens, scoring the first goal in a 6-0 win that rubberstamped Arteta's side's progression to the knockouts of the Champions League. The 22-year-old has seriously honed his game since that debut against Vorskla Plotava five years ago.

    WHAT NEXT FOR ARSENAL?

Next up for Arsenal is a home fixture against Gary O'Neill's Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League. While the Gunners will be expected to win, Wolves have been an impressive outfit throughout this season, so Arteta will be wary of the danger his side faces.
