Bafana legend Siyabonga Nomvethe convinced Orlando Pirates youngster Relebohile Mofokeng can equal Real Madrid superstar - 'He can catch up with Mbappe!'

Relebohile Mofokeng is currently Mzansi's hot prospect having hit great heights at a tender age.

In the ongoing campaign, the 20-year-old Bafana Bafana international has played 30 games for Orlando Pirates across all competitions.

His eight goals and 11 assists for the Sea Robbers underline his massive potential.

Mofokeng has been linked with a move to bigger teams.

Apart from going on trial with Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers, the versatile attacker was reportedly a target for Zamalek and Al Ahly.

Barcelona is the other team that has been mentioned as a potential suitor.

Siyabonga Nomvethe believes Mofokeng can deliver like Real Madrid attacker Kylian Mbappe, once he gets a chance.

“You can even go when you are 15 if you are talented and gifted; you deserve to go. But because he is still contracted to his club, the people who want him in Europe have to approach the club, have discussions, and then reach an agreement to release the boy," Nomvethe told iDiski Times.

“But for me, I see him ready to take that journey to Europe. The boy works hard, and he is performing better than most who are older than him. He has a bright future and deserves an opportunity to go to Europe, and for me, I wish that he could be free and leave so that he can learn more about football there.

“I believe that he can catch up with the likes of [Kylian] Mbappe, he can catch up with other youngsters and reach the same level.”

The ongoing campaign seems to be the best, so far, for Mofokeng having directly contributed to 19 goals already.

With his form, it will be interesting to see whether he can inspire Bucs to their first PSL title in more than a decade.

Mofokeng is also expected to play a crucial role in helping Bafana deliver in both the 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers and the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
