Bafana Bafana are set for two international friendlies in the ongoing global Fifa break.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

In almost a decade, Mamelodi Sundowns players have been dominating the Bafana Bafana squad thanks to their dominance in Mzansi.

However, their busy club schedule, including the Fifa Club World Cup, forced coach Broos to do without Masandawana stars for the aforementioned assignments.

The Belgian included many youngsters in his squad, which he believes is a good step forward in his bid to rebuild the national team.

  • WHAT BROOS SAID

"I know that the presence of Sundowns players in the national team has always been important. Why? because those are players who're very experienced at the higher level, so they helped us a lot in the past," he told the media.

"But as you know that I am not a coach who always looks only at the top teams [to get players], I always look at other teams as well.

"Some of the Sundowns players are now 30 and older, so we also have to think about the future," Broos continued.

"We will do it without Sundowns players. Let's hope that we can find some other players too, because having too many players from one club is not good.

"Therefore, it's very interesting for me to see other players from other teams in these friendly games," he concluded.

    WHAT NEXT?

Broos hopes the players he has included will deliver and show they are ready for heavier tasks.
