    WHAT HAPPENED?

Jose Riveiro coached his last Orlando Pirates game on Tuesday in the Premier Soccer League.

Bucs played a good game and went on to beat Golden Arrows 3-0 to seal their Caf Champions League place alongside Mamelodi Sundowns.

It was the end of an era for Riveiro, who coached Pirates in 132 games, securing 80 wins, 26 draws, and as many losses.

The Spaniard has made a bold statement regarding his relationship with the Soweto giants.

    WHAT RIVEIRO SAID

"No [I won’t consider coaching another PSL team], never,” Riveiro responded when asked whether he will consider taking over another team in South Africa.

“Never! Once Always; I will never coach any other team in South Africa. I am a Buccaneer.

"Orlando Pirates is the only club that I could have the motivation and the courage and energy, and the heart, in this case, to coach in the country, no doubt," Riveiro concluded.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Al Ahly have been heavily linked with a move for the Spaniard, with rumours indicating he might be unveiled this week.

Riveiro is set to take over from Marcel Koller, who was shown the door after the Red Devils' elimination from the Caf Champions League in the semi-final stage by Mamelodi Sundowns.

It is a massive challenge for the tactician who made a name at Bucs owing to what he achieved.

    WHAT NEXT?

Apart from winning five trophies in the three years Riveiro served Pirates, the club finished in the top two in the Premier Soccer League in his tenure.

Bucs have to find an able replacement who will continue from where Riveiro left off.
