Paris FC are box office
Stéphane Gilli’s side have scored nine goals and conceded 12 across 21 games so far this season. This is more than league leaders Monaco, who have twenty.
Additionally, Les Bleus have a higher xG (8.92) than reigning champions, Paris Saint-Germain (7.92). They also have the fourth-highest xGA (10.85), so it’s no surprise to see goals at both ends of the pitch.
Ilan Kebbal has settled into the top tier nicely, having scored three goals and two assists in five games. Moses Simon, meanwhile, has three G/A in his 355 minutes and is proving to be a real challenge for opposing teams. They’ll be pleased with their current mid-table position in their first season back in the top flight.
Gilli’s 4-3-3 formation is proving to be excellent going forward, but a concern at the back. They’ve scored in four of their five matches so far, but conceded in all of them. Additionally, all but one game has resulted in over 2.5 goals being scored.
Paris are set to play games against two sides with equally weak backlines, so they’ll be backing themselves. Therefore, more goals are expected to be scored, but Nice and Lorient will also see an opportunity.
Goals at both ends
Paris will travel to Nice for their next game. So far, Nice have conceded nine goals in five games, including four to Brest in their last match. They also lost 2-1 to Roma in midweek, so they won’t be as fresh as the visitors, either. Les Aiglons have kept just one clean sheet in eight matches across all competitions, but have been slightly better at home.
Additionally, four of Nice’s last five matches have also resulted in over 2.5 goals and seen both teams score. It should be pretty open at the Allianz Riviera, and both teams will back themselves.
Meanwhile, FC Lorient have the joint-worst defensive record in the entirety of Ligue 1. They have a slightly lower xGA than Paris, though only just (10.34/10.85), but have conceded one more (13/12). The main difference, though, is that Les Merlus games do not usually feature goals at both ends. It's only happened twice so far.
With 20 goals in Paris’ last four matches and 10 in their previous two home games, a few could be scored at Stade Jean-Bouin. Aiyegun Tosin is the man to watch for the visitors, and he’ll be eager to add to his tally in the capital.
However, hosts caused problems for both Marseille and Strasbourg, even in defeat, so they will be confident of doing the same to Olivier Pantaloni’s men.
