Ushuru FC faulter, KCB triumph as Western Stima seal KPL return

Ushuru FC's bid to make it to the Kenyan Premier League suffered a rude shock following a 1-1 draw against Nakuru-based side St Joseph’s Youth on Friday.

The taxmen took an early lead courtesy of Billington Oporia but failed to extend their lead despite creating numerous chances. The missed opportunities came back to haunt them as the visitors equalized in the second half through Taabu Kevin whose dipping header beat the opponent's custodian.

The Ken Kenyatta led side has 62 points from the thirty-three matches played, meaning the highest tally they can achieve is 71 points. KCB needs three to seal their return to the top flight after they downed relegation threatened Green Commandos by two goals.

Kennedy Owino capitalized a perfectly taken free-kick by Dennis Ng'anga, before finishing off a swift counter attack later in the second half. The bankers have sixty-nine points from the thirty-three matches played and on course to join Western Stima in the top tier.

The Kisumu-based side needed a goal by Joseph Mukhisa to complete a 1-0 win against Coast Stima and make a return to the top tier.
