OFFICIAL: Standard Liege secure Uche Agbo on loan from Watford

The former Nigeria youth international has teamed up with the Belgian topflight side after leaving relegated Granada

Nigeria’s Uche Agbo has been sent on another season-long loan to Standard Liege from Watford.

The 21-year-old played for Granada last season, featured in 31 games across all competitions but could not help them avoid relegation as they finished at the base of the 20-team Spanish topflight log.

''Uche is a young midfielder with an important game volume and good ball recovery,’’ said club’s sporting director Olivier Renard.

''A large part of last season, he was a [player] in the Spanish league. He is ready for a new challenge and will offer more options for our [club].

''The [Nigerian] joined the Blues last summer and he secured a work permit after impressing in pre-season, particularly against Barcelona.’’

While at the Stade Maurice Dufrasne, Agbo will wear jersey no. 5 and would be hoping to help them end well this season after finishing 9th in the Belgian First Division A last season.
