Nyangi: It was unwise for Gor Mahia duo to snub Harambee Stars

Gor Mahia official Judith Nyangi has hit hard on the team's duo Kenneth Muguna and Timothy Otieno for not honoring Harambee Stars' call.

The two players were named in the provisional squad by coach Stanley Okumbi but decided to join their club for Dar es Salaam tour sponsored by betting firm SportPesa. It is a decision which might come back to haunt them according to Nyangi.

"As a club, we cannot make some decisions for you, yes we requested Shakava (Haron) to be released, but the other two made decisions on their own. It is not wise to snub a national team for a club duty, especially like this one. It is one decision they might come to regret," Nyangi told Goal.

Nyangi admitted that only Shakava had permission from Gor Mahia to be released. "Yes, we did not request them to be released, they decided on their own, and in the future, maybe, that might work against them."

Gor Mahia, Tusker FC, AFC Leopards and Nakuru All Stars will represent Kenya, with Singida, Jang'ombe, Yanga and Simba representing Tanzania.
