Head coach of Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT), Benjamin Mora believed that his team did really well in overcoming league leaders Pahang to come out tops in a five-goal thriller in the latest round of Super League fixtures.

JDT, playing in front of their home crowd, had to come back from a goal down to beat the Elephants 3-2 and Mora think that The Southern Tigers have shown that they are the better team.

Speaking after the game, Mora said “Pahang is a good team, but I think we are better than them and we showed that on the pitch.”

“With tough games like these, fortunately we knew what to do. We did it well and the three points are good for us.”

The win against Pahang means that JDT now has won 3 games in row after their defeat to Perak, and Mora feels that the wins have given his team more confidence from game to game.

“The three wins in a row are very important. Every time we win, every time we played good, we gained confidence and teamwork.”

For captain Safiq Rahim, the key for JDT now is to continue their momentum as they will take a break from the league and focus on the AFC Cup and FA Cup next.

“We cannot stop here. We must maintain and keep this momentum. We will continue with the AFC Cup and FA Cup after this so we have to keep this momentum until the league resumes.”

“We have a good full squad here at JDT. Whoever is playing, they must follow coach’s plan and remember our philosophy here at JDT and hopefully we will get positive results,” added Safiq.

Safiq scored JDT’s third goal, with Hazwan Bakri bagging the other two for the home team as JDT moved to third in the table. The Southern Tigers closed the gap at the top to only two points, with still one game in hand to be played.
