ISL 2018-19: Routine win by Mumbai City makes Jorge Costa proud

Mumbai City coach Jorge Costa was pleased with his team's efforts in the 2-0 win against Chennaiyin on Thursday at the Mumbai Football Arena.

Raynier Fernandes and Modou Sougou scored in each half as the Islanders performed as expected, according to their coach.

"It was a good game. Not so well played. I don’t like the way the grass of the stadium is right now, it is not good for the players, or the fans, it is good for nobody.

"We did what we normally do. The players, since the first minute of the season, they are doing an amazing job. They are doing everything I asked them to do. We are playing as a team, helping each other. Fighting for one reason. So I am very proud of the work of the players," Costa said.

With a difficult clash against an unbeaten Bengaluru coming up within just two days. Jorge Costa became the latest gaffer to rue the league's scheduling of fixtures when he said, "It is not easy to play three games in six days. We must recover. This is not an excuse, against one of the best teams in India. Until now, they did not lose at home or away, so as you can imagine, it will be a very difficult game for us. But this game is in three days. Until then, I have a lot of job to do these guys."

Goalscorer Raynier was seen limping off when he was replaced midway through the second half. "I think it is something to his knee, have to speak to the medical staff. I hope it is nothing big."
