Injured Destiny Ashadi leaves Super Eagles’ camp

Injured Katsina United player, Destiny Ashadi has returned to his club from Super Eagles duties.

Ashadi sustained an ankle injury in a pre-season tournament last week and could not take part in the Eagles B training sessions on Monday and Tuesday.

“I have left the Eagles camp and I am in Katsina. I had to leave to go and treat myself so that I can recover as quickly as possible to still be part of the arrangement for CHAN. I thought the ankle injury won’t bother me but I couldn’t train with it,” Ashadi told Goal.

“I have to console myself because I know I still have my career ahead of me and I shouldn’t allow anything to destabilize my mood. I would have loved to play in the Super Six but my overall wellbeing is paramount.

“I have started making consultation so as to get the best type of treatment. I will be on my feet in the next few days by God’s grace."

Ashadi was part of the Nigeria team that finished second at the Wafu Cup of Nations behind the hosts, Ghana.
