Asian Rankings: UAE Arabian Gulf League stay top

2017 has been a successful year for the UAE Arabian Gulf League in terms of AFC’s domestic competition rankings. For the fourth time in a row, the league has been chosen as the best in Asia, bettering the likes of Korea Republic, China, Saudi Arabia and Japan.

The UAE sat top by a comfortable margin in the rankings, with 95.94 points, ahead of Korea Republic by more than 8 points as the latter sat in second place with 87.48 points. Following them are China PR with 86.871 points and in fourth place Saudi Arabia with 84.269 points.

This achievement has followed UAE Champions Al Jazira’s fourth place finish at the FIFA Club World Cup which included their brave performance against Real Madrid in which they lost by a narrow 2-1 margin, and the UAE had also seen two of their clubs reach the AFC Champions League Final in 2015 and 2016.

The Pro League Committee of the UAE had also won the Best Football Organisation of the Year in Asia at the SPIA Awards, highlighting further their recent achievements at another level.
