Emery has the chance to stake his claim against his former side by capitalising on PSG's lack of their key players, buoyed by an impressive display despite a penalty shootout loss against Atletico Madrid.

It is a meeting of bosses as new clubs as ex-Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel is also readying for the new Ligue 1 campaign with PSG, while Emery is set to guide Arsenal in their first Premier League season without Arsene Wenger as manager.

Seventeen-year-old Arsenal youngster Emile Smith Rowe heavily impressed in their victory over Atletico in their previous match, scoring a screaming volley and smashing it straight into the back of the net. The academy graduate did well to link up with Lacazette in the first half of the game and then playing just behind Aubameyang and Reiss Nelson.

Despite losing the game, Emery only had positive things to say about the youngster and believes that the side can capitalise on his impressive performance.

"It's a moment for the young players to show their quality, like Smith," Emery told reporters .

"Arsenal needs to give them the opportunity to work with us and show their quality in each match. Today I think every player plays well in this big game, and this goal [by Smith Rowe] is very good for him and for the team."

Arsenal also have the ability to call upon the talents of Ozil, who recently announced his retirement from international duty with the German team after recounting the amount of racism and bigotry he experienced when playing with the side.

With a bulk of their star players still missing, PSG head into the fixture against the Gunners with two defeats in three games. Tuchel's side managed to beat Sainte-Genevieve Sports 1-0, but suffered a 4-2 loss to FC Chambly just before their ICC campaign began.

Timothy Weah managed to give the French champions the lead against Munich, but the German side fought back to win the game 3-1.
