‘Fire up the jet for Vegas!’ – Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney sent Sin City party message as Elliot Lee & Co celebrate back-to-back promotions for Wrexham

The Red Dragons celebrated their record-breaking National League title triumph in style last season. The club’s Hollywood co-owners put an all-expenses-paid trip to Sin City in place, with Ben Foster suggesting that said trip cost somewhere in the region of £500,000.

Wrexham’s players are expecting another jaunt to Nevada in 2024, with Elliot Lee saying on the back of seeing the Welsh outfit wrap up a top-three finish in League Two: “I don’t know if they’ve [the co-owners] messaged anyone yet. We usually get a message from Ryan after a game so I’m sure he’ll message soon enough - they both will, to be fair. We’ve just told them to fire up the jet for Vegas!”

Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson did not head to Vegas alongside his players last summer, and he has been in contact with those calling shots behind the scenes. He said after seeing a 6-0 mauling of Forest Green Rovers confirm promotion: “Rob rang up - I don't think he was expecting me to answer - so I've had a great chat with him. Obviously him and Ryan would have loved to have been here today. They deserve a lot of credit obviously because the support they've given myself and all the staff and the backing they give all the players as well. They deserve this and I'm sure they will celebrating wherever they are in the US. Owning a football club is tough. It's not an easy job and you've got to savour these promotions.”

There are still two games left for Wrexham to take in this season, against Crewe and Stockport, but they are already in party mood and know that they will be playing third tier football in 2024-25 for the first time in 20 years.
