For Forest, Nicolás Domínguez is set for a lengthy spell out after knee surgery, while new recruit Dan Ndoye is tipped to step straight into the XI following Anthony Elanga's departure. 

Morgan Gibbs-White, fresh from fending off interest from Tottenham, will operate in the hole behind Chris Wood.

Brentford's preparations are also clouded by fitness concerns. Ethan Pinnock faces a race against time to feature, having sat out all of pre-season, while Kevin Schade remains a doubt with a minor knock. Vitaly Janelt is recovering from heel surgery and won't be back in the early weeks, and Yoane Wissa is unlikely to play as uncertainty lingers over his future. 

One bright note is the possible return of Rico Henry, who could make his first league start since that devastating knee injury away to Newcastle in September 2023.
