ISL 2017: Steve Coppell - Jamshedpur pitch takes away home advantage

Jamshedpur FC head coach Steve Coppel felt that his side deserved more from the game against Pune City on Sunday. The Men of Steel were handed a 0-1 defeat at their home ground after Adil Khan scored from a Marcelinho set-piece.

"When you prepare a team for a game, you prepare them to create opportunities. There is no guarantee that opportunity will be converted into goals," said Coppell.

"The players committed 100% and I couldn't ask for more. We worked very hard. I don't think we got what we deserved. I think deserved something from the game. Football can be cruel sometimes."

"We will continue to practice and work hard. We will work the strikers and finishing. The essence of football in scoring goals and at the moment we are short," conceded the former Kerala Blasters coach, who also expressed his disappointment with the pitch at Jamshedpur.

"The pitch is difficult to play on so that sort of compromised what we were trying to do. It makes it difficult when you have to get a shot on, cross or run with the ball. It is a leveller. It takes away home advantage. But it is same for both sides, it is not an excuse."

Sameehg Doutie was rumoured to have falled out with the English coach due to a lack of first team chances but Coppell reaffirmed that the forward will join up with his teammates this week.

"He's [Sameehg Doutie] got a few personal things that he has to sort out and he will back with us this week."
