Kenneth Muguna is not worried about the dearth of national team call-up even as he prepares to start a new life with Gor Mahia.
Muguna, who rejoined the Kenyan Premier League champions after a short sting with Albanian side FK Tirana, said of immediate concern for him is to get back to is the best form and help K’Ogalo pick all the trophies up for grab, adding that his performance will automatically earn him a call-up to the Harambee Stars squad.
“For now I am not bothered. It is not a big deal to be there. My target is to get back to normal form and help Gor Mahia achieve the season's target and the rest will fall into place."
Muguna also revealed to Goal in an exclusive interview that he left Tirana due to ‘personal’ reasons fueled by injuries.
While his stay in Albania was as short as his brilliant performance with K’Ogalo before he left KPL to link up with former Gor Mahia coach Jose Marcelo Ferreira, Muguna describe the Brazilian tactician as the “best coach I have ever worked with.”
“I left Tirana because of some personal issues. Before I left KPL, I had suffered some injuries, but maybe things didn’t work out as I expected but with due respect, I can say that I gained more.
“If you look at it, in terms of the environment, as a player, the mentality has changed. So I want to thank them (Tirana) for the time I was with them. Coach Ze Maria is one of the best coaches I have worked with so far.”
Muguna, who has six caps with the national team, joined Gor Mahia on a three-year contract.
