Monnapule SalengFollowing his poor performance in the Soweto Derby defeat to Chiefs, there were those who were questioning his Big Match Temperament. However, the left-footed attacker silenced his doubters by producing an eye-catching performance in a major cup final. Saleng scored a magnificent goal to inspire Pirates to their 11th MTN8 title and he was one of the standout performers on the night.Tapelo XokiThere were big concerns regarding the Bucs defence after club captain Innocent Maela was ruled out of the game against AmaZulu. However, Xoki rose to the occasion as he filled the void left by Maela in the backline. The former AmaZulu captain was rock-solid at the back and he also showed his leadership at times by guiding his teammates when the team was under pressure. The 27-year-old proved that he is ready to step up whenever he is needed by the team.Ben MotshwariWith Goodman Mosele and Thabang Mosele unavailable due to their respective injuries, the 31-year-old, who has seen limited game time this season, was given a rare opportunity by coach Jose Riveiro and he did not disappoint. Motshwari's midfield partnership was key to Bucs controlling the game as the duo complimented each other very well. Motshwari has surely showed that he remains a quality midfielder and a good option for Riveiro.

Winners: 

Nkosinathi SibisiThe no-nonsense defender, who has been one of Pirates' best players this season, had to be substituted just five minutes into the game after picking up a calf injury. The injury looked serious as Sibisi had to use crutches during the team's post match celebrations while his calf was heavily strapped. The Bafana Bafana international is now a big injury doubt ahead of next weekend's Soweto Derby clash against Chiefs in a Carling Black Label semi-final clash.

Losers:

Richard Ofori - 6.5/10Decent performance by the 2022 World Cup-bound keeper.Ofori commanded his area very well and he made some good saves to keep AmaZulu at bay as he marked his return to the team with a well-deserved clean sheet.Thabiso Monyane - 7.5/10One of Bucs' best players in the first-half.Monyane was a constant threat to the Usuthu defence with his powerful overlapping runs and he fired the game's first shot on target, while also being solid defensively.Deon Hotto - 6.5/10Not as influential as his fellow wing-back Monyane.However, Hotto had a decent game in the left flank where he contained Thembela Sikhakhane, but he never posed a threat to the Usuthu defence when he pushed forward.Tapelo Xoki - 7/10Played well against his former club.Xoki was reliable at the back and kept things clean - making vital clearances and interceptions when the Buccaneers were under siege. Olisa Ndah - 7.5/10Stepped up with Innocent Maela missing in defence.Ndah was a true leader in defence - organising and shouting instructions. Apart from that he was strong in the tackle and positioned himself well to thwart Usuthu's offence.Nkosinathi Sibisi - N/APicked up an injury just four minutes into the game and he was substituted.

Defensive ratings:

Miguel Timm - 8/10Outstanding in midfield.Timm was very solid in the middle, popping up with crunching tackles and interceptions when needed. His passing was also very good throughout the game.He was deservedly named Man of the Match.Ben Motshwari - 6.5/10Worked hard in the middle of the park.Motshwari pressed with intensity, giving his opponents little time to settle in possession and he also tracked back to help his teammates defend.

Midfield ratings:

Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo - 6/10Not at his best on the night.Ndlondlo took up advanced positions high up the pitch. He failed to make a significant impact, but he did have a decent game overall.Monnapule Saleng - 8/10Great display. Saleng looked sharp and made runs behind Usuthu's defence throughout the game. He scored a brilliant goal from a tight angle to earn the Buccaneers a win.Kermit Erasmus - 5.5/10Endured a quiet game by his high standards.Erasmus was tightly marked by Abbubaker Mobara most of the time. The Pirates striker did make a few promising runs with the ball, but chances didn't fall for him in the box.

Forward ratings:

Paseka Mako - 6/10Replaced Sibisi in the first-half.He was adept at handling George Maluleka whenever required and he combined well with his teammates when he pushed forward. Bandile Shandu - 5.5/10Used his explosive speed to create problems for the AmaZulu defence having been introduced at half-time, but his influence waned as the second half progressed. Vincent Pule - 5.5/10Introduced with 15 minutes left and he combined well with his teammates in Usuthu's half, but chances didn't fall for him in the box.Kabelo Dlamini - N/ACame on in the 87th minute and it was too late to warrant a rating.Bienvenu Eva Nga - N/AWas also introduced in the 87th minute.
