Isaacs: Mathoho can become a legend at Kaizer Chiefs

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Dominic Isaacs believes that current centre-back Eric Mathoho has what it takes to earn legendary status at the club.

“Definitely, there’s no reason why he can’t get the legendary status at the club. He is at a great club where he has everything he needs as a player,” Isaacs told Goal .

The 26-year-old player, who hails from Limpopo, signed a new three-year deal that will see him at the club until the 2020 earlier this week.

Isaacs, who donned the colours of the Amakhosi from 2008 to 2012 following his move from Ajax Cape Town, believes that this is a move in the right direction for ‘Tower’.

“This is a move in the right direction for him. He made the right decision to stay on and I think he will get better at the club,” Isaacs said.

Mathoho has made 134 appearances so far in the colours of the Amakhosi since his big-money move from Bloemfontein Celtic in 2012 and scored 12 goals in the process.

Tower has also donned the colours of Bafana Bafana more regularly since, making 23 appearances to date.

Meanwhile, Isaacs also donned the colours of Bloemfontein Celtic and recently Royal Eagles in the NFD, says he has not retired, but he is struggling to get his clearance from the latter.

“I haven’t retired from football as yet. It’s just that I am struggling to get my clearance from Royal Eagles. As soon as they issue my clearance, I will be free to join any team,” Isaacs concluded.
