2018 Indian Football Awards: Sunil Chhetri wins Indian Player of the Year

Along with shouldering the hopes of Bengaluru FC and the Indian football team fans, Sunil Chhetri also serves as the Vice-President of the FPAI. FPAI President Renedy Singh was unable to make it to the ceremony.

Jamshedpur FC playmaker Jerry Mawihmingthanga received his award from Senior AIFF Vice-President Subrata Dutta as teammate Subrata Paul looks on for his three assists and a goal in the 2017-18 ISL.

Young Player of the Year

Sunil Chhetri netted 34 times in the 2017-18 season for club and country across all competitions. No prizes for guessing the winner of the prestigious award.

Indian Player of the Year

Bengaluru FC's Venezuelan striker Miku's 20 goals in 24 appearances for the club helped him secure the title. Sunil Chhetri collected the award on behalf of him.

Foreign Player of the Year

Albert Roca left Bengaluru FC with an Indian Super Cup title and a runners-up medal in the ISL. Club CTO Mandar Tamhane collects the prize on behalf of the now-departed Spaniard.

Coach of the Year

Subash Singh got the most votes following an online public voting as the winger helped NEROCA FC to a 2nd-placed finish in the I-League with his four goals.

Fan's Player of the Year

The veteran shone for Mohun Bagan both as a player and manager as he also went on to coach their rivals East Bengal. He now coaches Calcutta Football League (CFL) side Bhowanipore SC as he is presented the award by his son-in-law Chhetri.

The former India goalkeeper serves as the CEO of the Western India Football Association (WIFA). He has been one of the key figures behind the redevelopment of the Mumbai Football Arena in Andheri, the current home of the senior national team.

An I-League and Federation Cup winning manager with Mohun Bagan, Sen has now turned his focus towards youth development with ISL side ATK.

The Senior Vice-President of the AIFF and the President of the Indian Football Association (IFA of West Bengal), Dutta has been a shrewd administrator of the game and has served the nation in the sport since 2004.

CTO Mandar Tamhane accepts the award for the club's success in Asian as well as domestic football in recent years. The Bangalore-based side have won the I-League twice and the Federation Cup and the Indian Super Cup once each. In 2016, they became the first Indian club to reach the final of the AFC Cup, but ended runner-up to Iraq's Air Force Club.

Special Award - Bengaluru FC

The Mohali-based club were the champions of India in the 2017-18 season in three different age categories. The senior side won their maiden I-League while the U15 side won the Nike Premier Cup for the third successive time. Their U13 side won the first ever U13 Youth League organised by the AIFF this year. Club CEO Shahnawaz Khan recieves the award on behalf of owner Ranjit Bajaj, who received accolades for his youth development policy.

Special Award - Minerva Punjab FC

After the culmination of the prize distribution ceremony, Sunil Chhetri was asked for his favourite goal in his decade and a half playing career for India. He replied, "It is yet to come, if I score in the Asian Cup (2019), it would be my favourite goal." He also hoped India would face the top Asian nations regularly in friendly matches in a bid to be regular participants in the Asian Cup in the coming years.
