CFL 2018: Yuta Kinowaki to join Mohun Bagan in CFL

Yuta Kinowaki is all set to join the Mohun Bagan squad in the ongoing Calcutta Football League (2018) after Ugandan midfielder Boban Zirintusa was rejected by head coach Sankar Lal Chakraborty.

Kinowaki already had a contract with Mohun Bagan from September 1, 2018. So after the departure of Zirintusa former financial secretary Debashish Dutta contacted the player after getting a go-ahead from club secretary Anjan Mitra.

It has been agreed that the defensive midfielder will join the club as soon as he clears his Visa.

"We already had an agreement with Yuta (Kinowaki). We are trying to get him 10 days before the date stipulated in his contract. He will be remunerated accordingly. It is better to get on-board an already contracted player rather than seeking a fresh face," said Dutta.

Although Dutta ceases to hold any office in Bagan, it once again shows his capabilty as an able-administrator.

Kinowaki marshalled the Mohun Bagan midfield during the last I-League campaign. Although his season was marred by a shoulder injury, he came back strongly and put in a match-wiining performance against East Bengal in January.

Bagan are set to continue with the current crop of overseas players for the rest of the season. Additional reinforcements will be roped in before I-League. It is understood that both foreigners will be familiar faces in the Indian domestic circuit.

Mohun Bagan are currently at the top of the pile in CFL after bagging full six points in their opening two fixtures. They take on George Telegraph on Sunday in their third match of the season at their home ground.
