Season three of the popular FX and Disney+ show returned to our screens on May 3, with episode one focusing on the Red Dragons' return to the Football League and their very first fixture against MK Dons.</p><p>Indeed, the match ultimately didn't go to plan, <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/hollywood-blockbuster-wrexham-mk-dons-thriller-ryan-reynolds-rob-mcelhenney-league-two/blt8891baf13e683054" target="_blank">with Phil Parkinson's men swept aside 5-3</a> by the side who had been relegated from League One the season before, dampening spirits at SToK Racecourse following the incredible 2022-23 campaign <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/wrexham-story-ryan-reynolds-owned-national-league-title/bltc41969ec8e37de0e" target="_blank">that saw them promoted from the National League</a>.</p><p>Sensing things weren't going Wrexham's way, Reynolds attempted to swing the course of the match shortly after half-time, with the Hollywood superstar changing into his 'lucky' sweater as his side trailed 3-1 after 50 minutes, as captured in a scene in the documentary.</p><p>So why that particular sweater? <p>After 32 minutes of episode one of the the third season of '<a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/welcome-to-wrexham-release-date-watch-ryan-reynolds-rob-mcelhenney-documentary-tv-series/blt588621d689775dae" target="_blank"><strong>Welcome to Wrexham</strong></a>', Reynolds is seen bringing out his 'lucky' sweater.</p><p>With his side, that he co-owns with Rob McElhenney, in a desperate situation as they trailed 3-1 at home to MK Dons amid lofty pre-season predictions and expectations of promotion, he felt he needed to encourage some divine intervention.</p><p><span>"Fitting into this might change the course of the game here," </span>Reynolds announces, as he grabs a moment to duck inside and change into a cream-coloured cowboy-themed sweater.</p><p>It didn't work this time. Parkinson's team were swatted aside by MK Dons in a disastrous start to the 2023-24 season, and it remains to be seen if the jumper will make another appearance on 'Welcome to Wrexham'.</p><p>Still, the sweater clearly isn't reserved only for matchdays. The Deadpool star has been seen wearing the garment while out strolling in New York City with wife Blake Lively and Australian actor Hugh Jackman, and it clearly holds special meaning to Reynolds, as much as it's not clear exactly why.</p>

WHAT IS RYAN REYNOLD'S 'LUCKY' SWEATER?

<p>The 'Cowboy Crewneck' is made in the USA by <a href="https://bode.com/products/cowboy-crewneck" target="_blank"><strong>BODE</strong></a>, and is described as being "inspired by a novelty children's sweater, circa 1960s. The knit design combines multiple techniques - it is both an intarsia and a jacquard - and features a desert cowboy design".</p><p>The jumper is made up of 55% merino, 25% nylon and&nbsp;20%&nbsp;cotton and has a boxy fit.</p><p>As well as having an online shop, BODE has stores in New York and Los Angeles.
